I used to work for the state in the property assessment office. I always dreamed of an app like this to give to the assessors. Now, they have one.

If you are looking for a way to organize your life on the iPad, Bento might be the app for you. Bento is a personal database app. You can use it standalone, or connect with your other devices so you can have your information at your fingertips.

The Bento interface allows you to customize as you please. Start with a template already provided, or create from scratch. In the form view, you can add fields and information through drag-and-drop methods. This app can organize a garage sale, or help you with the inventory of your store. It can also be a data collection app, getting customers and contact information.

If you are looking for a template, or want to share a template, you can head to their website and look through the categories. At the property assessment office, we could have easily created our own form and had the assessors using this app by mid-morning.

The app places all info into spreadsheet form, which you can view. When ready, sync with other devices so your data isn’t lost.

Bento is created by FileMaker and is available for a special introductory offer of $4.99 (normally $9.99). You can also get versions for your iPhone, iPod and Macbook ($29).
