Berserk, the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the late Kentaro Miura is our podcast review of the day!

Berserk is... An interesting series. It has a lot of what you'd expect from an action manga, but there are a lot, and we mean A LOT, of adult themes in the series. The series starts with the main character "making love" to a woman who becomes a demon and tries to kill him. This is the start of the crazy adventure that is Berserk. Here's the thing though: Berserk isn't all about death, blood, and gore. It has humanity, evil, good, and a loooot of philosophy that is rarely found in manga to this level. It does a very, very good job of making the villain relatable to the characters in the show, making the "hero" look like a murderer while the "villain" is looked at as a saviour. 

Berserk is a story about a man named Guts who is on a mission to kill every demon that exists in the world. While he detests normal demons, he seems to have a special hatred for these special demons called "apostles" who seem to be demons with stronger powers and abilities. These apostles hold positions of power in cities, sometimes even being king or chancellor. Killing one of these apostles leads Guts to be sucked into a realm where the GodHand descend to hear the pleas of the apostle. Guts is happy and recognises one of them and runs at him to kill him. Unfortunately, he can't kill him just yet and we're left to wonder what Griffith, the name he keeps screaming" did to make him feel this way.
