Votes Tallied for Best 2016 Political Books

Much is made of television debates and social media for their influence on voters, but even in the election of 2016, books remain critical. Those willing to read more than 140 characters are rewarded with insights and analysis beyond sound bites and gotcha moments gone viral. Publishers Weekly’s annual Spring Announcements – coming in the December 21, 2015 issue – lists the titles that get the editors’ votes.

“There are some great books about the political process, including one on how redistricting has changed the game for GOP – some would say even rigged the game – as well as how the rise of Fox News has changed the way politics is covered,” reveals Andrew Albanese, Publishers Weekly senior writer.

“Among the top 10 titles are a memoir from NBC news chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel, who has basically spent his whole career reporting from a war zone. There is also a new book from Sebastian Junger about veterans returning home,” he tells CCC’s Chris Kenneally.
