Our school wide mission to be Best for the World can manifest in so many different forms and actions — all impactful in their own ways. JIS Alumna Valerie Guarnieri (Class of 1984) realized early on, especially after growing up traveling the globe and living in Indonesia for six years, that for her, it would be through service and humanitarianism. Today, as Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Development for the World Food Program (WFP), she dedicates her career to combating hunger and ensuring food equity worldwide. She recently sat down with JIS Podcast hosts Morgan Banino (Middle School Vocal Teacher) and Mindy Slaughter (PIE Digital Literacy Coach) to tell us all about the importance of food equity, the role young people have in the fight against world hunger, as well as her time at JIS. Don’t miss it!
