    • Hexagonal mesh weaves distribute load better than square weaves, which can develop permanent stretch marks after just one dive season of hauling 40 to 50 pounds of wet equipment.
      • Strap attachment points fail more often than the straps themselves—look for box-stitched reinforcement with bartack stitching, or you risk straps literally ripping off the bag body after a dozen uses.
        • Bottom panel design forces a real trade-off: full-mesh bottoms drain faster for boat diving, while a small 6 to 8 inch reinforced panel protects gear better on rocky shore dives.
