Best of Electronica Spring 2018 Mix by DJ 4T

Cemal, also known as DJ GRAVITY, grew up across many different cities in Türkiye as his father’s army career moved the family from east to west and north to south. During his college and university years, he lived in Ankara, where his passion for music continued to grow.

From an early age, music played a major role in his life. His taste ranges widely—from 80s and 90s Pop to Rock and Metal. Music was always part of his daily routine, especially while studying. It helped him focus, stay motivated, and made long hours of preparation for exams much more enjoyable.

Cemal graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics. After university, he moved to Istanbul to begin his professional career at a major telecommunications company. Later, he joined Nokia, where his career quickly became international. Over the years, he lived and worked in Austria, Denmark, Thailand, Singapore, Dubai, and Azerbaijan. His global career also allowed him to travel extensively, visiting more than 60 countries across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa.

During his travels, Cemal developed a strong interest in nightlife and club culture. Visiting some of the world’s most famous clubs sparked an even deeper curiosity about DJing and music selection.

Over the past 15 years, he has built an extensive and diverse music library. In 2008, he started experimenting with DJ software just for fun. What began as a hobby soon turned into a serious passion. Wanting to improve his skills, Cemal began studying music theory, reading DJ books, and learning more about DJ equipment and the art of mixing.

Eventually, he decided to take things further and joined the Pioneer DJ Academy, where he gained hands-on training in music theory, advanced mixing techniques, and professional DJ equipment. After completing the program, he became a certified DJ and invested in his own professional setup to continue developing his craft.

His first live performances came when colleagues asked him to DJ at farewell parties. Soon after, he began playing in small bars for fun. During one of these events, he met a Master DJ who offered him the chance to perform as a warm-up DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. Later, Cemal also played full-night weekend sets, sometimes performing until early morning during peak club hours. That’s also when he earned his first 100 Euros as a DJ 🙂

His international lifestyle and multicultural experiences helped him develop the ability to read the crowd and understand the dynamics of nightlife and entertainment.

Today, Cemal continues to follow global music trends daily, constantly expanding his library and creating new mix sets. While he still works as a traveling businessman, DJing remains his passion. Whenever the opportunity arises, DJ GRAVITY steps behind the decks to share great music and good energy — purely for the love of it.
