Before we get into today’s episode, I want to take a moment to share some exciting news! My wife and I are in the final countdown to welcoming our first child, who’s due at the end of November. On a work note, when that happens, I’m going to take a full month off with no contact with my office (unless, of course, there’s a major catastrophe).
If you tuned in last month, you learned that I’m going to be recording a Wins and Learns episode each month. Today, you’ll hear my wins and learns for October 2018! I’ll share some things I learned, wins I had, and things that I could have done better during the last month.
One of our wins for the month is that all of us in the office have been reading The Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller. We’re also all doing the Unique Ability test. Once everyone is done with both, we’ll come together as a team and figure out our bigger-picture plan for moving forward. I’ve also been reading The Dichotomy of Leadership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, and love the concept that the goal of all leaders should be to work themselves out of a job.Another win is that I took two team members to NARPM annual convention. Tune into the episode to learn about all the benefits of this win! I’ve also been spending time working on building focus and productivity, which involves minimizing notifications and distractions. Finally, I want to celebrate one of my favorite wins from October: I held my first-ever mastermind event!
In terms of learns, I’ve really had some problems lately, and I’m trying to view them as gifts from God. One specific learn we’ve had this month involves updating and transferring processes, and we’ve struggled when processes were updated but important steps weren’t transferred. Other learns relate to learning how to set strong goals, and simplifying life as things become more complex.
