With this third sign recorded by John, Jesus -signs- that He is God. The Jewish teachers understood His claim and rejected Him. Jesus also confronted the teachers with their lack of understanding the Law of God. When accused of working on the Sabbath in violation of the Fourth Commandment He replied His Father is working.
