Sometimes we need to be reminded that what is boring and simple is all that we truly need. With investing, we commonly fall into this mindset that if we aren’t doing more and being active then we aren’t winning. This could not be further from the truth! The truth is that simple, passive investments such as index funds are the best way to invest over the long-term, especially for the novice investor. I like to pick stocks as much as anyone, but the statistics don’t lie when it comes to passive index funds outperforming and being lower cost over the long-term. Be exciting with your investing if you want, but you are probably better off being boring.
