Is God reluctant to forgive—or have we misunderstood Him?

In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil explores several encounters in the life of Jesus that reveal a God who is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and ready to forgive. Through the paralytic lowered through the roof, the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet, the woman caught in adultery, and the prodigal son, we see Jesus repeatedly remove the religious barriers that keep people from receiving grace.

Forgiveness is not something we earn by finding the perfect words, producing enough sorrow, or proving that we have changed. Repentance begins when we come alive to the truth that God is far better than we believed—and turn toward Him in faith.

The Father is not standing at the door with His arms crossed, waiting for you to explain yourself. He is already running down the road to meet you.

What if the way you see yourself is contradicting what Jesus says about you?

You are the righteousness of God, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and a new creation.

In this episode of Between Sundays, Neil Broere teaches from Jeremiah 29:13, Hebrews 11:6, and Psalm 27 on what it means to seek God with the whole heart. Many believers want more of God, but we have also learned how to live without the manifest presence, power, and nearness of God in our everyday lives.

In Ephesians 4, Paul calls the church to “walk worthy” of the calling we have received. But before he ever tells us how to walk, he spends three chapters showing us what God has already done.

That order is important.

The gospel is not, “Walk worthy so God will bless you.” The gospel is, “Because God has already blessed you with every spiritual blessing in Christ…therefore, walk worthy.”

In this episode, Neil walks through Paul’s language in Ephesians 4 and shows how our lives are meant to carry the weight of the grace we’ve been given. The sacrifice of Jesus is not something we admire from a distance. It is something we respond to with our whole lives.

And thankfully, God has not left us to walk worthy in our own strength. He has given us the Holy Spirit, gifted leaders, and the Body of Christ to form us, equip us, and mature us until the invisible Christ becomes visible through His people again.

Refuse the lie of independence, walk worthy together, and show the world what God is like.

Grace is more than forgiveness for your past. It is the power of God that saves you, seats you with Christ, and puts His nature on display through your life.
