Houston-born artist and multi-instrumentalist Peyton joins Between the Bars to talk about the musical upbringing that shaped her sound, from gospel, jazz, and classical music to hip-hop and R&B.
We talk about growing up in a musical family, releasing music at a young age, learning to trust her instincts as an artist, and the collaborators who have helped her find more freedom in her creative process. Peyton also takes us inside the making of her latest album, AU, created alongside Shafiq Husayn and Om’Mas Keith, and the idea of “staying golden” through whatever life brings.
Plus, we get into Roots Picnic, the music inspiring her lately, what she’s been working on next, and why making music that genuinely feels like you matters more than fitting into any one box.
YUUF is a London-based instrumental band made up of Andrin Haag, Oliver Overgaard, Hugo Cottu, and Anthony Boatright, whose different backgrounds across Switzerland, Denmark, France, and England come together to shape their unique sound.
Back in April, I sat down with Andrin, Oli, and Hugo while they were on their first North American tour to talk about the creative world behind YUUF and how they use instrumental music to express ideas and emotions without words.
We dive into the role nature plays throughout their music and how the landscapes behind each EP influence its sound- from the fluid, psychedelic melodies of Alma’s Cove, inspired by water, to the warmer, more arid textures of Mt. Sava, evoking a desert landscape. They also break down their approach to percussion, the different instruments and sounds they use to create texture and movement, and how their individual musical influences come together in the writing process.
Back in April, I sat down with Houston-based rock guitarist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Marberry to talk about her journey from playing gigs alongside her mom to performing solo, creating her own mashups, and eventually writing and recording original music.
We talk about building a music career from the ground up, navigating the pressure of social media as an independent artist, and learning to embrace your identity as a musician and creative.
Taylor released her debut album, After All, in 2022, and has continued performing throughout Houston and releasing new music, including her latest singles, I'm Leaving and Blue.
Supertaste is a Brooklyn, New York–based band blending disco, funk, dance, neo-soul, and rock. The project began in 2020 as a duo with Zach Britt and Lucas Feigenbaum releasing several singles and EP's before expanding to include Zach Bayard on keys and synths. Following the release of their debut album, Supernova (2024), Gavin Chops joined the band on drums for their live performances.
In early 2026, Supertaste embarked on their first U.S. tour, opening for Magic City Hippies and performing in 32 cities across the country from January through March.
This conversation was recorded shortly after that tour came to an end. I had the chance to sit down with Zach Britt and Zach Bayard to talk about what they learned from their first time on the road, how the experience reshaped the way they think about performing live, and why making music has taken on a deeper meaning for them. Not long after this interview, the band released their single "Chemistry" featuring Dariana Everett.
Since this conversation was recorded, Supertaste has announced their first headlining U.S. tour in the fall (2026), released their new single "Lucidity," and is preparing to release a new album.
