This week we’re taking a break from our usual narration and charming sibling banter while we finish up season two.
Today’s mini episode is going to be a little different. We’ve put together a playlist of all the music we’ve heard so far on La Jolla Babylon.
Here is a link to almost all the music: Marine Layer
I wrote the bulk of these chapters in cafes and was constantly distracted by whatever the baristas were playing. And since to me, there’s no such thing as background music, I made my own to help me concentrate. Most of the songs you’ll be listening to are from the collection of music I’ve recorded called Marine Layer: Music to Block Out Other Music. A few songs are from a new record I’m working on of background music for parties.
I play all the instruments except on a song called Let’s Go. On that one, guitar is by Arrington de Dionyso, the vibes are played by Walker Spring and that’s Lisa Shonberg on the drums. There are no distracting lyrics, just some la las. This is not music you’re supposed to listen to, it’s meant to be in the background, taking up as little space in your mind as possible while you do other things.
Please enjoy these songs and if you want, head on over to band camp and stream or download them for free at your leisure.
Thanks so much for listening to our fucking podcast and check your feed for season 2 - it’s almost ready for you!
