Many people are extremely sure of themselves. They insist that their view is the correct view. They insist that their judgment is the correct judgment. They insist that their interpretation is the correct interpretation. They don't leave room for debate to consider the possibility that they might be mistaken.Their job is to convince us that they are never mistaken, that they have all the answers, that they have the secret. Oftentimes this leads to a grandiose ego living in a bubble with blinders on. Underneath it all is insecurity, fear and weakness. We don't have to behave this way. Open-mindedness can and should prevail. Bottom line: Best we take everything we hear from an expert, pundit or critic with a grain of salt. Trust, if we wish, but verify. And think for ourselves.
