The Scribes held a position of great importance in Israel, yet the Lord told us to beware of them. By the time Jesus was upon earth, the typical Scribe did not have the character and honor of Old Testament Scribes. This underscores the danger and threat that things which began good may not necessarily remain that way if men are not willing to do that which is necessary to sustain it.
