Learning Objective: Attendees will explore the phases of the intelligent manufacturing lifecycle and the innovative technologies empowering green initiatives in global manufacturing.

Smart manufacturing is an ecosystem of platforms designed to digitize all phases of the manufacturing lifecycle [research, design, simulate, develop, build, distribute, remanufacture, recycle]. Technologies such as the metaverse, mixed reality, nano, quantum, analytics, robotics, etc., have matured to the productization phase of manufacturing and supply chain distribution. Smart manufacturing provides a pathway to transform product development and manufacturing by integrating a continuous data feedback loop from deployment in production environments to retirement, recycling, and remanufacturing to redistribution. Providing a data path for manufacturing increases the analysis and analytics necessary to design and build next-generation sustainable and environmentally friendly products and goods. Integrating these technologies requires an advanced delivery platform capable of mixed reality experiences and digital “twinning” of physical things. Smart manufacturing will fully utilize innovations like the metaverse to leverage the mixed reality and 3D visualization experiences necessary to empower green science and research, advanced learning, and connected global community sharing.

At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:

Understand the technologies empowering smart manufacturing.

Discuss the market differentiation and new customer experiences available to organizations that leverage smart manufacturing strategies.

Explore how smart manufacturing can support green research and development.

Understand how smart devices provide data essential to understanding the measurable value points of green manufacturing lifecycles.
