After over a year of hiatus, Beyoncé has released new music.
The superstar dropped her original song for the upcoming motion picture King Richard yesterday, a soaring, powerful ballad named "Be Alive." The new track, her first since 2020's "Black Parade," is a celebration of resilience and the wins that come from being "hustle personified," which perfectly soundtracks the story of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams and their father and coach Richard Williams.
The solo song, which Bey made with producer/songwriter Dixson, was previously teased in a trailer for King Richard, which drops in theaters and on HBO Max on November 19. The film has already generated Oscar buzz, with speculation that "Be Alive" may earn the 40-year-old superstar her first ever Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
While her new single may earn the superstar some Oscar gold, her fans are also clamoring for her next highly-anticipated studio album. The superstar previously told Harper's BAZAAR that she has been working on new music for the past year.
"I've been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies," she says in her September 2021 Harper's BAZAAR cover story.
"Still, there's nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!" she adds.
