Beyond Borders: Embracing Intersectionality in LGBTQIA+ Migrant Lives

Listen Later

In this edition of AASYP on Air, we are joined by Arozak (Ozak) Salam, an Indonesian-born performer, LGBTQIA+ activist, engineer, writer, and founder of the Indonesian Queer Collective, the first Indonesian queer charity organisation to be legally registered as a charity outside of Indonesia.

From migrating to Australia in 2011 after participating in the Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program in 2010, Ozak shares his experiences as a queer Indonesian migrant in Australia. This episode explores the power of opening oneself to new opportunities and creating strong communities to navigate the complexities of intersectional identities.
