Dr. James Howell discusses spirituality during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. James has been Senior Pastor of Myers Park United Methodist Church since 2003. A native of Columbia, SC, he at the University of South Carolina before going to Divinity School at Duke, where he also earned a Ph.D. in Old Testament. His journalism career spans almost 30 years. He lived for 10 years as a freelance writer in Mexico, where he wrote his first two books. In 2004, he returned to the United States to work for the L.A. Times, covering immigration, drug trafficking, neighborhood stories, and gangs.

Orvel Ronk discusses security issues for employers during COVID-19 and how they may change after this time. Orvel educates and trains organizations on how to reduce the risk of violence and active shooter incidents. Orvel once worked as a civilian in the Nation’s Capital for the Department of Defense, specializing in anti-terrorism, physical security, risk management, facility/security assessments and security planning, as well as active shooter mitigation, response and scenario training.

Ann Lee Hussey, a polio survivor, has made the eradication of polio her life’s work. She has actively participated in 25 volunteer National Immunization Days, in places often not seen by westerners, where the need is greatest and the goodwill is as critical as the immunizations. She is determined no child will suffer what she, a polio survivor, has been through. Ann Lee’s work has earned her a Champion of Change award from President Barack Obama and the Rotary Service Above Self Award.

Laura Toni-Holsinger discusses the impact of COVID-19 on the on-profit sector and its impact on the community. Laura is the Executive Director of the United Way of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County.
