Givens was a standout athlete at Bastrop High School in the 90's was an underrated player due to his style of play. Deserving a scholarship never happened. Politics would hunt his career then and now. Givens didn't allow that to stop him. He went on into law enforcement to later become the first Afro-American Police Chief in Bastrop, La (Strop City)
