Goodness, three months into the pandemic we have guests back on No Magic. What a strange relief! It's a special one too, since former BFF.fm Radical Advice host Lily Sloane is here with collaborator Martin Austwick to talk about their new mini album as Pale Bird & Lily Sloane, I Told You How Important You Would Be, which is available in all good record stores on July 28th. On Bandcamp you can find two tracks available now. We'll be playing them, along with discussion about long-distance composition and collabroation, the vibrant Song Fight community here in the Bay Area that bore their record, and they'll be playing some of their related inspirations too.
Meanwhile, the featured record this week is PJ Harvey's Let England Shake, a stunning work, and segues nicely with our guest's contributions of compellingly crafted duets, and characterful songwriting.
You can pre-order I Told You How Important You Would Be on Bandcamp now!
