Paul reminds believers of their union with Christ in His death and resurrection. Followers of Jesus are so united to Him that when He died, they also died to their old ways and self-rule. Likewise, when Jesus rose in victory, believers were raised to a new life that seeks to reflect His good, gracious, and glorious reign.
