On a Friday night in September, police removed multiple people from the visiting student section at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The teams didn’t know. Most of the crowd didn’t know. By Saturday morning, everybody did.
This episode covers what happened at the Lincoln-Way East at Homewood-Flossmoor football game on September 4, what the districts said, and where things stand now. Then we get into the part the news coverage leaves out: what an experience like that actually costs a young athlete, why the setting makes it worse than the words, and the four things any program can do the same night it happens.
Visiting athletes are somebody’s children. The standard for how they get treated in your stadium is not complicated.

Four weeks in, every football program in Kankakee County sits at 3-1. Nobody got there the same way.
Kankakee lost starting quarterback Phillip Turner and scored forty anyway, with junior Kymani Billings throwing three touchdown passes and the defense piling up six sacks in a 40-6 win over Thornton Township. Bishop McNamara went to Palos Heights and beat Chicago Christian 42-13, its third straight win of forty or more. And Bradley-Bourbonnais ran into Lincoln-Way East and lost 50-7, the first blemish of the season.
We break down all three, preview a Week 5 slate, and close on the question that matters most this week: what does a team decide a 43 point loss means?

Micah Lee plays quarterback and cornerback for the Bishop McNamara Fightin’ Irish. Ask him which one has a future and he says corner.
In this interview, Lee gets into what people watching don’t understand about the position, the discipline it takes when you have no idea what is about to happen, and why he has to improvise on every snap. We also talk about competing with his twin brother Malachi in two sports, what the Irish are chasing after a 10-1 season, and the college question nobody has an answer to yet.

The county went 3-0 and outscored everybody 123 to 14.
Bradley-Bourbonnais rolled Amos Alonzo Stagg 47-0 behind a kickoff return touchdown from Jamir Burt and three scores from Ky'ren Edmon. Bishop McNamara put up the identical number on Christ the King, its second straight shutout and eight full quarters without allowing a point. And Kankakee answered last week's loss by winning every quarter at Rich Township, 29-14.
We break down all three, preview a Week 4 slate with the Boilers heading to Lincoln-Way East, and close on the hardest thing to coach: a team that just won by 47.

One point. One shutout. And one that got away.
Bradley-Bourbonnais is 2-0 after a 13-12 grind at Thornwood. Bishop McNamara blanked Herscher 41-0 in its home opener. Kankakee lost 22-14 to a Lincoln-Way East program that won nine games last year, and nobody should be lowering expectations after it.
Full recaps on all three, plus a Week 3 preview with the Boilers at Amos Alonzo Stagg, Mac on the road at Christ the King, and the Kays heading to Richton Park.
We close on the mental side: why 13-12 might mean more to a team than 34-7 did, and why what Kankakee decides about that loss matters more than the loss itself.
