Fear can affect us in ways other people don't always understand.
In this episode, we explore what happens when fear takes hold, how our bodies respond through fight, flight or freeze, and why we can sometimes become frightened of fear itself.
I also share a touching experience of how hypnotherapy helped a young girl who had spent years frightened of wasps, affecting her summers and everyday life.
Because sometimes, what looks like overreacting on the outside is a very real struggle on the inside.
Beyond What We See — with Sharon Space. ❤️
What happens when your heart starts racing, your breathing changes, and suddenly you feel as though you're losing control?
For someone experiencing a panic attack, the fear can be overwhelming. The sensations are real, the distress is real, and sometimes the most frightening part is not understanding what is happening.
But what if the people around you cannot see what you're experiencing?
In Episode Eight of Beyond What We See, we explore panic attacks, the emotions surrounding them, and why something invisible to others can feel so frightening to the person experiencing it.
We look beyond the physical symptoms to consider the fear, uncertainty and emotional impact that panic attacks can leave behind.
We also explore the importance of understanding, compassion and reassurance, because sometimes the way we respond to someone experiencing panic can make a meaningful difference.
Whether you've experienced panic attacks yourself, supported someone through one, or simply want to understand them better, this conversation is for you.
Because not every struggle is visible, and not every battle can be seen.
Remember, experiencing a panic attack does not make you weak. Support is available, and with understanding and appropriate help, things can improve.
💜 You are not alone. You deserve to be heard, understood and supported.
Who looks after the person who is trying to look after everyone else?
Parenting can hold love and exhaustion at the same time. Behind the everyday routines, a parent may be carrying worries, self-doubt or feelings they struggle to put into words.
In this episode of Beyond What We See, with Sharon Space, we make room for an honest, compassionate conversation about parents who are struggling—and what we might miss when we only see how well they appear to be coping.
You can love your children deeply and still find things difficult. You can be doing your best and still need someone to listen.
Whether you’re a parent yourself or care about someone who is, this is an invitation to look beyond appearances, soften our judgement and ask “How are you?” with space for the real answer.
Sometimes, being seen is the beginning of feeling less alone.
How well can we know someone when we only see the version they choose to share?
In episode 6 of Beyond What We See, with Sharon Space, we reflect on the gap between what we see and what we understand. A smile, a conversation or a confident appearance can leave us feeling we know someone—but there may be so much more beneath the surface.
In this episode of Beyond What We See, Sharon explores confidence — what it really means, why it can disappear, and how easily our experiences, relationships and inner voice can shape the way we see ourselves.
Confidence is not about being the loudest person in the room or pretending you never feel unsure. It can be quiet, fragile and deeply affected by criticism, rejection, comparison and the things we tell ourselves over time.
Sharon looks at how confidence can gradually be rebuilt by changing the way we speak to ourselves, recognising our own strengths and taking small steps forward — even when we do not feel completely ready.
This episode is a reminder that confidence does not have to arrive all at once. Sometimes it begins with one small decision to believe that you are capable of more than you currently feel.

Addiction is often judged from the outside, but there is usually far more happening underneath the surface.
In this episode of Beyond What We See, Sharon explores how addiction can sometimes begin as a way of coping — with stress, emotional pain, anxiety, depression, trauma or simply trying to escape from what is happening in our minds.
We look beyond the behaviour itself and consider the person behind it, why “just stop” is rarely that simple, and why understanding the reasons underneath addiction can be such an important part of change.
This episode follows on naturally from our discussion about motivation, because when someone feels overwhelmed, stuck or emotionally exhausted, escaping those feelings can sometimes become more important than facing them.

Motivation isn’t always about simply “trying harder.” Sometimes there’s much more going on beneath the surface. In this episode, I explore what can sit behind a lack of motivation, including overwhelm, low confidence, emotional exhaustion and the things we don’t always say out loud. A reminder to look beyond what we see — in ourselves and in others.❤️
This episode also reflects themes Sharon explores through Streetwise Wellbeing, where she looks beyond what others may see to understand the emotional struggles, behaviours and experiences that can sit beneath anxiety.
In Episode One of Beyond What We See, Sharon Space explores why pain should never be a competition. We can never truly know what someone else is carrying, and comparing one person’s struggles with another can leave people feeling dismissed or misunderstood.
This episode looks beyond what we see, encouraging greater understanding, compassion and the simple recognition that everyone’s pain matters. ❤️
