Where do you see yourself in five years?
It’s a question we’re taught to have a confident answer to but a rigid five-year plan can keep you chasing a future that no longer fits who you’ve become.
In this solo episode of Beyonder the Podcast, your host Vee explores a more flexible way to create direction in your life: replacing the map with a compass.
A compass helps you move towards what matters without requiring you to predict the exact destination or every turn along the way.
We’ll explore:
- Why five-year plans can sometimes hold you back
- How to find direction without having everything figured out
- Why experimentation creates more clarity than overthinking
- A three-horizon approach to planning your next chapter
- How to start embodying your future self today
- The power of taking one small step in the next 30 days
You don’t need to know exactly where you’ll be in five years. You just need a direction and the courage to take the next step.💭
What would your compass point towards right now? Share your answer in the comments.

What if you stopped postponing the life you truly want to live and decide to go on a mini retirement or sabbatical in your 30s?
After burnout, a serious ankle injury and the realization that life cannot be postponed, Bianca decided to take a mini retirement in her 30s. What followed was a life-changing journey that would take her to more than 90 countries.
In this episode, Bianca shares the lessons she gathered along the way; from walking the Camino de Santiago and road-tripping across Africa with 20 strangers, to completing a ten-day silent Vipassana retreat in Nepal.
We talk about choosing curiosity over comfort, traveling alone, trusting yourself through uncertainty and redefining success beyond career achievements.
Bianca’s story is a powerful reminder that travel is not only an outer journey, it can also help us build resilience, deepen our relationships and find greater inner peace.
Above all, this conversation asks an important question: What are you postponing that you could begin living today?

What if changing your mind does not mean you failed but simply means you have changed?
In this solo episode, your host Vee explores why we sometimes remain committed to careers, places, goals and identities long after they have stopped feeling right. We may worry that changing direction will waste everything we have invested or make our original decision look like a mistake.
Drawing on her own experience of moving countries five times and leaving a decade-long career, she shares why our past decisions can still be valuable, even when we eventually choose something different.
She also shares how to distinguish between genuinely outgrowing something and wanting to escape the discomfort that comes with growth. She shares three questions that can help you listen to yourself beneath fear, sunk costs and other people’s expectations.

After living in 15 countries, making 25 international moves, and raising four children across borders, how do you define home?
In this episode, your host Vee talks with Sam, who shares what life between cultures has taught her about identity, belonging, community, and connection. She opens up about the grief of leaving people and places behind, the importance of goodbye rituals, and how she helped her children embrace change while maintaining meaningful relationships around the world.
As a third-generation Third Culture Kid and the author of Beneath a Borrowed Sky, Sam has come to see home not as one physical place, but as an amalgamation of people, memories, experiences, and relationships. Something we can carry within ourselves wherever we go.
If you’ve ever lived abroad, felt caught between cultures, or wondered where you truly belong, this conversation is for you.
What does “home” mean to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.

How do you build a life you truly love, not one that just looks good from the outside, but one that actually feels like yours?
In this episode, your host Vee explores the role of self-discovery, energy, relationships, environment, and daily routines in creating a meaningful life.
She shares why it’s important to stop copying other people’s definitions of happiness, redefine success for yourself, and recognise when you’ve outgrown an old dream or chapter.
You’ll also discover why small experiments can bring more clarity than endlessly thinking about change, and how listening to yourself helps build the self-trust needed to choose a new direction.
Reflect on this question after listening: If no one could see or judge my life, what would I choose?
