Sickness is a common occurrence, physically and mentally. In this
psalm David prays for healing, acknowledging that it could be rebuke
(correction) for angering the Heavenly Father. It is not common
belief that sickness could be correction from the most High or that
healing comes from him. Apocrypha Ecclesiasticus 38:9 “My
son, in thy sickness be not negligent: but pray unto the Lord, and he
will make thee whole.” By the severity of the ailment is also
the grief in spirit. There is no medicine that could properly heal
the mind and spirit. That is why it is important to meditate on the
scriptures. Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good
like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
