God, the merciful king

1 Kings 9:4-9

3 Titus 3:4-7

The Sinner deserves punishment, but God has extended mercy. God is merciful to withhold the punishment the sinner deserves and place it upon Jesus instead. Jesus, who did no wrong, paid the penalty of sin on the cross so that all who trust in Him are forgiven, not because of what they might have done but because of what Christ has done.
