Tan journeys to the era of Jesus Christ in Galilee, circa 25AD. After getting caught stealing some bread, he forges an unlikely friendship with a spice merchant before setting out to become a saffron dealer in his own right.

With the help of his mentor he meets the fearsome merchant Mordechai to explore business opportunities around town. But things quickly turn sour and it’s not long before Tan is galloping on a stolen donkey to Mordechai’s estate to try and poach his best people before the merchant returns home.

Will Tan's business plan pay off, or will he end up locked in a Galilean dungeon awaiting the administration of justice?

This recording was partly influenced by listener Chris Mason’s request for a visit to Jesus’s time and partly by Tan’s long-harboured desire to know more about Jesus inspired by his sixth form religious studies lessons, especially the work of Geza Vermes.
