Biblical instruction and expectations for Christian giving can sometimes be misinterpreted or refuted when modern Christians believe that the laws laid down by Moses have been abolished by Christ, leaving us with only two new commandments to live by. The idea of tithing therefore seems outdated, and many Christians try to argue its relevance today. Interestingly, the New Testament has a lot to say about giving, and in fact, it further challenges those who have attempted to get away without tithing based on wanting to live by the New Testament instructions.
