Law and narrative work together to regulate the relationship between people and land. A key aspect of this narrative is divine ownership, which impacts on the practice of land ownership. This talk looks at different aspects of biblical land ownership although, as with biblical law, the focus is on rural land rather than urban property. The main focus will be on the ‘spectrum of sabbaths’ in biblical law, including the weekly sabbath, the sabbatical year and the jubilee year.
