President Biden recently signed 2 executive orders on immigration that have made headlines — one for its restrictions on asylum seekers, and the most recent, announced this week, for the hope it offers for hundreds of thousands of undocumented spouses and of US citizens, and their children.

Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera, talks with 8 O’Clock Buzz host Tony Casteñeda about the two actions, the first of which, condemned by immigrant rights organizations, temporarily limits the number of asylum seekers granted entrance to the US from Mexico if the number of irregular crossings at the border exceeds an average of 2,500 per day for a week.

The second, applauded by immigration advocates, creates a pathway to citizenship for roughly 500,000 undocumented spouses of US citizens, and an estimated 50,000 children of undocumented immigrants who are married to US citizens.
