The badminton Mondays are still going on at Eddie Tam Gym Everyone is welcome Every skill level is welcome if you never play the game, we can teach you Free of charge every Monday from 6:30 PM to 9 PM ( you can come and go at anytime, as long as in that time period ) at Eddie Tam Gym in Makawao Just wear your sport shoes Racket and ball is provided by Park and Recreation of Maui County. Join Pacific Whale Foundation’s Chief Scientist, Jens Currie at the next "Know Your Ocean Speaker Series", hosted by Maui Nui Marine Resource Council. Tues. Feb. 4, Currie will also be joined by Dr. Adam Pack (UH Hilo) & Lars Bejder (UH Marine Mammal Research Program) to discuss their collaborative study of factors contributing to declining whale sightings in Hawai'i and Alaska. 5:30 pm at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center. The Parade of Whales travels down South Kihei Road, starting at Kamaole Beach 1 at 9am and ending at Kalama Park in Kihei. After the parade, stay at Kalama Park in Kihei from 10 AM - 3 PM for FREE interactive displays on marine research, education and conservation; hula performances; a keiki carnival; local food vendors; made on Maui (Nui) arts & crafts vendors; the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta; expert speakers and more as we celebrate our 40th year of ocean protection. Free to attend. Creator and model builder of the Death Star, X-Wing, and other classic Star Wars ships is meeting fans. Shake the hands that built the Death Star and see exclusive behind the scenes photos. Starting work in 1974, Colin Cantwell is the original concept artist and model builder for the Star Wars spaceships. His other less known, but equally important projects include 2001: A Space Odyssey and War Games, as well as his role as the lead NASA analyst for CBS during the 1st moon landing. This will be followed by an opportunity for fans to meet Colin, ask questions and share stories.
