Raised in Sonoma Valley, Oscar Mooneyhan (the Big O) started his first band Blue Smoke with friend Mike Hinton take the Battle of the Bands as just teenagers in 1968, beating out many older and borderline profesional acts. Later he formed Bacchus in 1969 with lifelong friend Joe Scoma who is the only surviving original member bedsides himself in the revised act that playes Sonoma Valley today. He then spent 30 years in Reno and played all over the town with a successful show band called Back in Time. Mooneyhan moved back home to Sonoma in 2004 formed a couple of pretty successful acts, like Backtax and Rubber Soul. His musical career has gone ful circle, so to speak, by bringing back the new Bacchus Rock Band. Mooneyhan also has a power duo with James Marshall Berry called JMB and the Big O.
