UCET Podcast with Kiera Beddes

Big Picture Learning in a Globalized, Interconnected World with Dany Macias and Matt Winters

Listen Later

Welcome back to episode 6 of the UCET podcast, where we talk about all things Utah, education, and technology. In this episode, we are focusing on how to provide opportunities for students to engage virtually with experts, teams, and students, locally and globally. We not only want to discuss how to bring the world into our classrooms but how we can take our classrooms out into the world. We have two wonderful guests on this episode, Dany Macías, a teacher in Alpine School District, and Matt Winters, a UEN instructor.

Over the course of this episode, we discuss the following questions:

  • Why is it important to learn about the world beyond our city/state/country?
  • What are some tech tools that can help educators engage virtually with people outside of the classroom?
  • What are some challenges teaching a globalized perspective?

At the end of the episode, we discussed some of the best ways to develop global citizens, for our students and for ourselves as educators.  If you want more, you can follow Dany on Instagram @Book_Talk_Lady and Matt can be found on Twitter @TeacherWinters or https://www.teacherwinters.net/
