We finally venture into the story that, perhaps, shall go down as the greatest novel ever written, being that The Divine Comedy is written in verse and is therefore a poem. Bilbo is our focus this week, and somewhat surprisingly, we argue that he is the best father figure to be found in the entire book. What does it mean to be a spiritual or adoptive father? How does Bilbo prepare Frodo to reveal something of the divine nature?
