The tenure of Gary O'Neil as AFC Bournemouth Head Coach came to an end on Monday 19th June 2023 at 12:30pm. We didn't have to wait long for his replacement as Andoni Iraola was announced as his replacement by 3:00pm.

In that short 2 and a half hours though, the media went into overdrive. Gary Lineker, Paul Merson, Richard Keys, Darren Huckerby, Graeme Souness... the list goes on, all commented about how it was disgraceful, wrong, embarrassing, not right... dare we continue that Gary had been sacked.

Craig, at the time, had to agree. As a long time admirer of Gary's work, he didn't want him to leave. The names flooded in. Graham Potter, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Jesse Marsch were all linked. Many Cherries fans were probably fearing the worst wondering if Bill Foley actually had a slight ounce of knowledge on what he was doing.

He answered this at 3pm by appointing the former Rayo Vallecano Head Coach Iraola - one of the hottest prospects in World Football. A man who has taken a club with a stadium with three sides (any similarity there) to La Liga and then gone and beaten the giants of Barcelona and Real Madrid - in some cases on their own patch!
