BIM Shorts!

BIM is not a career switch. It's a career upgrade.

In this episode, Puneet challenges a common misconception among architecture students and fresh graduates: the idea that learning BIM means switching careers. Instead, he reframes BIM as a career upgrade for architects. Architecture remains the foundation; BIM simply makes architects more efficient, capable, and relevant for the future of the industry.

The episode explains that BIM is not just about learning software like Revit. Revit is only one tool within the larger BIM process, just like a knife is one tool in cooking. True BIM learning is about understanding how projects are designed, coordinated, documented, delivered, and managed through a smarter workflow.

Puneet also highlights a major industry problem: many firms treat BIM as a separate layer added after the design is complete. This limits the real value of BIM. Instead, BIM should be integrated from day one, running parallel with the design process so it can support better decisions, smoother coordination, construction clarity, and even as-built project handover.

The key message of the episode is that students and young architects should stop thinking of BIM as abandoning architecture. BIM is how they become the architects of this generation. When learned properly, BIM becomes a superpower that transforms the way architects approach design and delivery.

The episode closes by connecting this philosophy to Polygon’s BIM cohort with Medhavi Skills University, where BIM is taught as an integrated design and delivery process, not just a set of software commands.
