The episode is good, and then it’s not. Then it gets good again, then it doesn’t. These are the issues we have almost every week of The Strain. Something just seems off to me here as the setup to this episode looks to be a no-brainer. Great idea for a one-off story but the dialogue, direction, production, and choreography of the whole thing is too cookie cutter to pass in today’s golden age of television. I’ve expected more from this show since the beginning. My expectations are being forced to be lowered. Meanwhile, Jack notes the price of every single thing in the variety store, calls bullshit on a quick tire change in the pit, and hates Samwise some more.
