  • Bingeing Poe Pt 2: The House That Corman Built - Same Castle, Different Nightmare

In 1960, a 34-year-old director talked a B-movie studio out of two cheap black-and-white quickies and into one color Gothic instead. It worked. What followed was five years of crumbling houses, candlelit crypts, and one actor whose voice became the sound of Edgar Allan Poe on screen.

Part 2 of our Poe binge guide steps into the Roger Corman / Vincent Price era, where the budgets were small, the fog was free, and the same castle set burned down over and over again. We get into what makes these films hold up more than sixty years later, the one that is hiding a different author entirely, the one that is secretly a comedy, and the viewing order that turns eight scattered movies into one very good October weekend.

Pour something dark. Dim the lights. Nevermore starts now.

  • Bingeing Edgar Allan Poe : Pt 1: From His Written Works to Silent Screams

Edgar Allan Poe earned nine dollars for The Raven and died broke. Since then, Hollywood has adapted his work more than two hundred times. To kick off October, Bingetology's favorite month for horror binges, we're starting a series on how to binge Edgar Allan Poe.

In Part 1, we go back to the beginning: the silent era, D.W. Griffith, Jean Epstein's avant-garde The Fall of the House of Usher, and the Universal horror years when Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi brought Poe to life in The Black Cat and The Raven. Then we dig into why Poe nearly vanished from Hollywood in the 1940s and 1950s, to the rise of atomic monsters and sci-fi.

Next up in Part 2: the legendary Roger Corman and Vincent Price era. Keep an ear out for Poe Binge Bites all month long.

WooHoo! October is here, and Bingetology is going full spooky season. All month long we're serving up the best short and long Halloween binges, plus a month dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe and the movies and TV shows his stories have inspired over the years.

Your first Binge Bite of the month is the Ready or Not double feature. The original 2019 film runs 1 hr 35 min and is streaming on Netflix and Tubi, or rent it on Prime and YouTube. The new sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, runs 1 hr 48 min and is on Hulu or available to rent on Prime. That's 3 hrs 23 min total, the perfect short binge for a spooky night in.

Plus, a quick rant about Hulu raising prices again. Ready or not, go enjoy your binge.

  • S6 Ep10 - The Kunundruum of Streaming & Gen Zers

This week on Bingetology, I’m working through a streaming kunundrum: too many platforms, too many choices, and somehow still nothing to watch. We also get into the shocking realization that some Gen Z-ers have no idea which movies are actual classics. Yowza! Plus, I travel back in time to talk about the first film made in America and yes, with streaming platforms old classics can still be enjoyed.

Streaming chaos, movie history, generational confusion, and plenty of binge-worthy opinions. WooHoo!

  • Binge Bite: The Web Slinger Flies Again!

As of Sunday morning, Spider-Man just came within two million dollars of the biggest opening weekend in movie history. Brand New Day pulled an estimated $355 million domestically, landing just behind Avengers: Endgame's $357.1 million. Worldwide it opened to estimated $927 million, second only to Endgame again.

This is reason enough to go see the latest Spiderman film, "Brand New Day".

    Enjoy!
