My backstory:
I was pre-med with a specialist (equivalent of major) in pharmacology at the University of
Toronto. I worked in bioinformatics for a year before doing my masters in computer science at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn MCIT). I interned at Goldman Sachs and am now a full time data scientist at a FAANG company.
