In the dead of night, deep in a forgotten wing of the Tohoku Institute of Technology in Japan, Dr. Masaki Kobayashi sealed himself and his team into a chamber blacker than any grave. It was 2009, and the world outside slept oblivious to the secret they were about to drag into the open.
