On this episode of the BioTEC Pod we are incredibly excited to welcome Dr.Bechara Saab. Dr.Bechara Saab is the CEO and chief scientist of Mobio Interactive that houses revolutionary product AmDTx, the only mindfulness app that has outperformed placebo in scientific studies examining attentional control, endurance, mental fitness and stress resilience. Join us as we dig deep into the science and technology behind AmDTx, the future of digital health, and what’s next for Mobio.
On this episode of the BioTEC Pod, we are so excited to share a wonderful discussion with Lianna Genovese. Lianna shares with us her experience with her start up, ImaginAble Solutions and their feature product Guided HandsTM aimed at helping those with impaired fine motor skills. Lianna has won several awards such a $100k prize at The Forge, Most Innovative product at the Universities 21 RISE Global Competition and many more. Join us to learn more about ImaginAble Solutions and Lianna’s journey. As well as getting tips from the expert herself on telling your story, securing funding, and a crash course on patenting.
On this episode of the BioTEC Pod we are joined by professor Khaled Barakat! Prof.Barakat’s lab is focused on applying computational drug discovery tools to discover new antiviral and immune checkpoints’ small molecule drugs. Prof. Barakat has previously completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the lab of the Nobel Laureate Prof. Michael Houghton. In addition, he serves as the CEO & co-founder of HEKA Therapeutics Inc. and is a co-founder of ACHLYS; two spinoff companies devoted to drug discovery. Learn about the future of cancer treatments, the limits of computational modeling, and spin-off companies with Professor Khaled Barakat. Stay tuned!
On this episode of the BioTEC Pod, we welcome Professor Hasan Uludag! Professor Uludag, has been with the University of Alberta since 1997, currently based at the Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering. His lab, the Uludag Lab, is focused on highly interdisciplinary research ranging from experimental therapeutics and functional biomaterials to realize the potential of new, unconventional therapeutic agents. Stay with us to learn more about experimental therapeutics, biomaterials, and to learn more about Professor Uludag’s journey.
Join us on this episode of the BioTEC Pod where we sit down and chat with Prof. Edwards. Prof. Edwards is an associate professor at University of Calgary in the Faculty of Kinesiology and the principal investigator of the Human Performance Laboratory. His lab, focused on extremely interdisciplinary projects, spans topics such as bone fracture and fatigue from a cellular level all the way to a whole-body view. The projects undertaken by the Edwards Group integrate biomechanical experimentations with in silico analysis such as imaging and computational modeling to identify non-invasive methods to measure bone integrity. Listen to our episode to learn about projects at the Edwards Group, as well as how to break into exercise science and biomedical engineering.
Welcome to the BioTEC Pod where today we’re joined by Dr.Anna Blakney. Dr.Anna Blakney is a Professor of Bioengineering at UBC, COVID-19 vaccine researcher, member of #TeamHalo, and TikTok Star with over 3 million likes and 200 000 followers. Professor Blakney’s lab is a multidisciplinary group of engineers, immunologists, and molecular biologists investigating the interactions between RNA, biomaterials, and the immune system to prevent and treat disease. Aside from leading the Blakney lab, she has amassed millions of views of TikTok as a part of #TeamHalo debunking vaccine myths, dispelling rumors, and educating through short, fun videos!
Join us as we discuss the trajectory of RNA vaccines, TikTok, and the vaccine rollout here in Canada! (as well as some tips from Prof Blakney herself).
