Publisher's Summary:
Lily Rae is on holiday in El Paso, Texas, when she's kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. El Paso borders on one of the most dangerous places in the world - Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - a city caught in the grip of a war between cartels.
Her disappearance is investigated by undercover Mountie Jack Taggart, who discovers a Canadian link to the cartel and penetrates the organization. Taggart is sent to El Paso, where he is partnered with special U.S. Customs agent John Adams. Neither Taggart nor Adams know they have been paired together for a secret purpose.
Taggart has strict orders to stay out of Juarez, but his gut instinct directs him otherwise. The investigation seems to be going smoothly - until the cartel discovers his true identity.
Practically torn from the headlines, Birds of a Feather will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you questioning right and wrong.
Editorial Reviews:
Canadian Mountie Jack Taggart's back. This time, he's in El Paso and a woman's gone missing. Taggart will need to penetrate a Mexican drug cartel to find her. Author Don Easton writes from personal experience, having worked as an undercover police officer in Canada for 20 years. David Drummond gives a strong performance. With casual pacing, he embodies Taggart's bravado while managing a variety of character voices. Meanwhile, Drummond's airy tenor compliments the mysterious tone. Fans of this series, and edge-of-your-seat drama, will enjoy this action-packed audiobook about the ugly underbelly of crime.

Excellent
Jack travels to El Paso to rescue a teen aged girl and ends up in Mexico bringing down a major drug Lord.
Gritty and realistic
It is absolutely frightening to think about what goes on in Ciudad Juarez. I found this novel really dramatic and read it at a great pace, anxious to find out how the hero survives. It has the ring of veracity.
GREAT BOOK GREAT SERIES
Don Easton has written a great detective series centered on Jack Taggart, a Canadian undercover officer. Taggart must solve crimes while navigating the seas between the law, the bureaucracy, and justice- which are often in conflict and even opposition to each other. It is these conflicts, as much as the crimes themselves, which form the heart of these novels.
Easton was himself a law enforcement officer in Canada for twenty years so his plots and characters are realistic and absorbing.
As a retired law enforcement officer myself, I can testify to the realism he brings to his books and the fine story telling of his writing. I purchased one book, knowing nothing about Easton or his work and quickly devoured it, buying several others. Having read all of them I believe you will be entirely satisfied with this novel and wanting more of Easton books when you have finished it.
Trite and preachy
If it were not for occasional profanity, I would have thought this book was for teenagers. Very simplistic and predictable.
And please save the preachiness about how evil Americans are for owning guns. It does not fit with the rogue cop character.
And FYI, the Spanish word for dog is perro, not pero. It got really tiring reading one of the main character's names as "El Pero".
