We are infused with the Holy Spirit.
Most of us are very attached to our phones. They help us keep track of our busy lives. They can guide us to our favorite coffee spots, allow us to stay in touch with others, and identify the person at our door as friend or foe. We check our phones many times throughout the day because we don’t want to miss anything important. Many of us have even experienced “phantom vibration/ringing syndrome”. That is when you believe that your phone has gone off but when you check it, it has not.
Two thousand years ago, the apostles were infused with the Holy Spirit. Today we receive the Holy Spirit at baptism. The Holy Spirit dwells within us and helps us with our mission as disciples of Jesus. We never have to worry about leaving the Holy Spirit on the kitchen counter when we go out or purchasing new apps for better functionality. The Holy Spirit is our moral compass for making right choices. The Holy Spirit is a direct line for keeping in touch with God. And the Holy Spirit allows us to see Christ in everyone we meet.
How many times a day do we check with the Holy Spirit for advice? Imagine what kind of place the world could be if we did that even half as many times as we check our phones! And the next time you think your phone is vibrating or ringing and it’s not, check with the Holy Spirit. Perhaps we are being nudged to “recalculate” our words/thoughts/deeds so we get back on the right path to our salvation.
