Palm Beach County, Fla.’s First Responders were again honored for their dedicated service to the community at Mizner Country Club’s 8th Annual First Responders Day. Representatives from Palm Beach County’s Emergency Medical Services, Police, Fire Departments, and Mizner’s Private Security were invited to enjoy a ceremonial BBQ luncheon, followed by a round of golf at the Delray Beach, Fla. club.
The day also featured tours for Mizner members, their children, and grandchildren of the latest fire engines, SWAT vehicles, K-9 and tactical teams, and the Sheriff’s Emergency Field Force vehicle.
With incredible resilience and determination from the Augusta, Ga. community, West Lake Country Club has bounced back in just two weeks from extensive course damage caused by Hurricane Helene, as it opened nine holes on Oct. 11. Meanwhile, members were able to enjoy access to the clubhouse, food and beverage, fitness, tennis and pickleball one week earlier for the first time since the devastating storm ravaged its way through the Southeast.
More than 1,110 trees were either uprooted or damaged by the storm, turning the recovery into a community effort. West Lake staff members helped clear debris and clean bunkers on the golf course, while industry professionals began removing trees on Sept. 29, just a day after the hurricane caused widespread damage in Augusta. The massive cleanup effort began despite the club not having power for six days, and neither phone nor internet for 12 days. Meanwhile, neighbors banded together to do their part to clear debris from their own yards and surrounding streets.
Brookfield Country Club in Clarence, N.Y. is nearing the completion of an extensive $27.5 million renovation, transforming its facilities into a year-round lifestyle destination. The project, originally announced in 2022 with a budget of $15 million, expanded significantly as construction costs increased and the scope broadened.
Scheduled for completion in March 2025, the clubhouse renovation is part of a multi-phase project that has been more than two years in the making. The revamped clubhouse spans nearly 51,000 sq. ft. and includes a new 2,700-sq.-ft. pro shop and bag storage area. Approximately half of the original 34,000-sq.-ft. structure was integrated into the new design, while the remaining portion was demolished.
The first phase, which opened late last year, introduced a fitness center, updated locker rooms with private lounge areas, golf simulators, and the Halfway House/Wellness Café, which serves casual food and drinks near the course. Phase two is currently underway and will feature a ballroom, the Grille Room restaurant, a kitchen, an atrium, and a grotto with a wine cellar and smoking lounge.
