Dr. Roberts is a skilled professional within the non-profit and social service industries. For the last 11+ years her career has been devoted to sustaining high-performing programs throughout Tennessee, whose mission focused on education, re-entry, and employment support.

During the podcast, Dr. Roberts discusses how her journey to the doctorate led to her work in various industries, but as she continued to navigate her career, she knew the doctorate was a part of the journey. Although it did not end where it started, she still has managed to be a communicator with a passion to serve her community. Currently, she leverages her diverse experiences by working in multiple states and in the cross-sections of health/wellness, social impact, education and technology industries. Past and current projects include developing new SNAP E&T programs, federal Ed Tech initiatives, & with her husband and co-owner creating and participating in local and statewide mental health events and programs.

She earned a Doctor of Educational in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University; Master of Business Administration from Bethel University, College of Professional Studies; and Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Memphis. She continues to live in Tennessee with her family.

Dr. Kizzie is an award-winning doctoral lecturer within the Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College in NYC. As a full-time faculty member, she teaches digital media courses. She has been featured in publications including Crain’s New York Business, The Mann Report, THE CITY, and blackenterprise.com. With over two decades of marketing experience, Dr. Kizzie has utilized her social media skills within various industries and has given talks at the Google NYC Office and other universities on digital media and diversity.

During the podcast, Dr. Kizzie speaks openly about her passion for the power of digital media and the various platforms available for marketing, networking, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Kizzie has spent years empowering others and continues to promote the importance of being engaged in the digital world. She has always loved to inform and share knowledge with others. The podcast is filled with great conversations on how social media is a necessary good for all ages while Dr. Kizzie offers guidance on how to navigate various tools and resources to be promoted both personally and professionally. Dr. Mays speaks to us on the topics of fighting personal battles that cause discouragement and ultimately walking into a purposeful life. Dr. Mays is a two-time college dropout, is now the founder of The Minority Recreational Leadership Academy, and is a national speaker, educator, and leadership expert who values dedication, service, and excellence. Using real-world examples, Dr. Mays sheds light on how the invaluable talent each person brings to your organization can positively impact your mission.

During the podcast, Dr. Mays shares that life threw him off his firm, safe foundation after experiencing a loss early in life that limited his focus. In an effort to figure life out, he battled with fighting not only his worth but his purpose. Working jobs that barely made ends meet eventually led Dr. Mays to seek solutions after a 9-year journey. He knew that having had two failed attempts to obtain his undergraduate degree, the key to his success involved going back to finishing the task. In his thirties, Dr. Mays walked through campus as an untraditional student. After planting the seed, he decided not only to obtain an undergraduate degree, but also a doctorate. In spite of limited funds, resources, and experiencing homelessness, Dr. Mays remained committed and completed 3 degrees in 7 years. He now travels the nation encouraging and motivating others through his story by spreading a message of possibility.

Dr. Samose L. Mays earned his Doctor of Education in Sport Management from Northcentral University; Master of Science in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University; and Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies from Georgia Southern University.

Campbell who speaks to us on the topics of Black culture, social impact, and the importance of diversity equity and inclusion work in higher education and industry. Dr. Campbell’s diverse experiences in multicultural programming, organizational development, and data analysis have positioned her to create transformative change. Currently, Dr. Campbell serves as Director of Equity and Inclusion Research and Research Education with the Office of Equity and Inclusion at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Campbell is also a faculty member within the Integral and Transpersonal Psychology Department at the California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition, Dr. Campbell serves as Global Co-Chair with the University of Rochester’s Black Alumni Network and Vice-Chair for Niche Market Insights Foundation, Incorporated.

During the podcast, Dr. Campbell shares how her father ignited a passion in her for Black culture and her desire to see equity in the black community. Having seen such Black excellence in her life growing in the DC area, Dr. Campbell has long been inspired to see this excellence spread throughout her community. She understood her assignment and that in order to create change she had to learn more in order to do more. Like most, she experienced challenges on her journey to the doctorate. For her it included being a mother, wife, and working full-time which caused a moment of stillness. But she shares the importance of having friends that provided encouragement, which could be as simple as “Girl get yourself together”! While Dr. Campbell describes DEI as the new “sexy” term, engaging in the work is serious and needs to be an established priority in higher education to ensure the voices of students are valued and then actions are taken in response to their needs.

Dr. Campbell earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Transformative Studies from California Institute of Integral Studies; Master of Science, Education, Inclusion, and Urban Teaching & Leadership from University of Rochester; and Bachelor of Arts in English also from University of Rochester. With such a busy schedule, Dr. Campbell also leads a nonprofit alongside her husband where she resides in upstate New York.

Hatcher who speaks to us on the topics of higher education administration and transitioning into leadership at the university level. Dr. Hatcher is a veteran administrator in higher education and provides very personal insights into her experience in carving out your own lane to serve the university and its students. Dr. Hatcher is currently a university administrator who serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, while maintaining a passion for helping students transition to college through meaningful engagement.

During the podcast, Dr. Hatcher shares that she is the product of two teenage parents who were growing up while also parenting. She also had a very high expectation for education. Early on she always knew that she wanted to be a writer and enjoyed learning and sharing stories. However, life always throws curve balls in places and situations that were never expected. After graduating with an undergraduate degree, Dr. Hatcher entered the world of higher education as an Administrative Assistant and has been serving in higher education for the past 20 years. While not beginning a career as a writer, Dr. Hatcher shares that her journey to the doctorate ended by experiencing a full circle moment and she is now living out her dream, not only as a recipient of a doctorate degree, but also writing and sharing stories as she has long desired to do as a child. While the journey to earning a doctorate degree is not easy, she drops gems on the need for support, committing to the process, and maintaining your relationship after graduation.

Dr. Hatcher earned her Doctor of Educational Leadership degree from California State University, Fresno, Master of Art in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and BS in Journalism (Magazine/Public Relations) from University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Hatcher is both a wife and mother and has future aspirations to continue to write and publish.

Dr. Coleman’s story is one that is very unusual but not surprising. It is a story of a young man who struggled to find his identity and purpose in life. While going through many obstacles and making some choices that led to him being an eighth grade dropout, he found his way to creating a life that he would have never dreamed. Dr. Coleman speaks to us on the power of possibilities, starting over, and determination.

His journey to the doctorate is one that started with someone simply planting a seed that he decided to nurture. While serving in the military, Dr. Coleman received all of his degrees including his doctorate of which a portion was completed while he was deployed in the Middle East. With distractions being numerous, his commitment to focus on his education and completing what he started was a priority. Now retired, Dr. Coleman has so much life ahead of him and has great aspirations for the future to create opportunities for others through mentoring and teaching.

Dr. Coleman earned a Doctor of Business administration with the focus in Leadership from Capella University; Master’s in Procurement/Acquisitions and Contract Management from Webster University; and a Bachelor's in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services from Hawaii Pacific University. He is a loving husband and father who currently resides in the Metro Atlanta area.

Join Sean Reynolds as he shares his journey to Becoming Doctor Reynolds. Dr. Reynold's has been actively engaged in the medical device industry for 23 years. His experience spans various medical device marketing areas such as medical education, sales, field marketing, market development, product management, leadership, and personnel management.

Currently, Dr. Reynolds is the Associate Director of Marketing and Business Development – Medtech, for the Kohler Company. He is responsible for developing and defining the business strategy for Kohler’s medical technology portfolio in the digital health space.

Dr. Reynolds recently completed his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, where he studied surgeon behavioral adoption traits with additive manufactured implants. Dr. Brown is a professor and transformative transpersonal trainer and consultant focusing on the well-being of the whole person. She specializes in integrating psycho-socio-emotional tools into the everyday and teaching others how to utilize these for their highest impact. Dr. Brown’s extensive background in (w)holistic understanding and women's ways of knowing, helps her connect deeply to her clients through many learning languages and modalities.

During the podcast, Dr. Brown discusses how her work does not focus simply on one aspect of an individual’s life that causes stress or uncomfortability, but the totality of experiences that have led them to their current state. Transpersonal means connecting mind, body, spirit, and environment. While traditional psychology focuses on the head, transpersonal psychology addresses how experiences manifest in life. This whole-person focus addresses the root instead of the symptoms. Through coaching, workshops, training, and consulting, Dr. Brown teaches simple, every-day tools that can be used at any moment to propel someone in a new direction, to get you unstuck, and to dissolve the blocks. These tools are feminine ways of knowing.

Dr. Brown completed her undergraduate degree at Howard University (BBA). Sher received M.A. in Women’s Spirituality from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She earned her first PhD from Sofia University in Transpersonal Psychology and earned a second in Integral and Transpersonal Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies. She resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Dr. Rhodes speaks to us on the topic of the importance of professional counseling services, self-care, and mental wellness. Dr. Rhodes is a licensed and board-certified Professional Counselor since 2008. In 2020, she became a Board Certified – TeleMental Health Provider and provides virtual video professional counseling services in Florida, Georgia, and New Jersey. In her private practice, Dr. Rhodes focuses on helping adults, couples, families, and groups.

During the podcast, Dr. Rhodes shares how the COVID-19 pandemic propelled her into her dream of starting her own practice. Her decision to leap into entrepreneurship by starting a TeleMental Health practice came after several years of experience working in the field and academia. Dr. Rhodes has a passion for helping others which lead her into counseling. From an early age, she knew that she wanted to help people. Dr. Rhodes recalled an experience from her childhood in which an individual who was experiencing trauma reached out to her asking for guidance and assistance. She knew then that she was destined to live a life in service to others. Dr. Rhodes also addresses the stigma in the Black community that is associated with receiving counseling services. She believes that the services

provided by licensed professional counselors, like herself, are crucial to

individual’s mental health and wellbeing, even if it only for a season in their life such as divorce. Lastly, Dr. Rhodes challenged the myth of the “Strong Black Women.” She indicated, that yes, Black women are strong, but it should not be at the expense of their overall health and wellbeing. Women need to nurture themselves and not let their wells run dry depleting themselves in sacrifice to others.

Dr. Rhodes earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Services – Counseling Studies from Capella University in 2008. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Atlanta, GA in 2003. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her sons. She also enjoys gardening, exercising, singing, and dancing.

Dr. Childs is a proud first-generation college student turned professor. She is a native of Wichita, KS, and she currently resides in the Dallas Metroplex area. She has been a literacy educator for nearly 20 years, and she has worked in rural and urban settings in K-12, and higher education.

During the podcast, Dr. Childs shares how educators can improve and promote literacy in the classroom as well as suggestions for parents on ways to prevent further learning loss as it relates to literacy. She discusses the importance of Close Reading and other activities found in her book,
