In the U.S., the CDC reported that black women experience maternal mortality at a rate two to three times higher than that of white women and one to two times higher than any other ethnicity. During the birth of our second child, we experienced a scary incident that made this statistic hit home, and we are petitioning our communities effort to change these statistics.
