More Life: The Reentry Podcast introduces their 1st ever series and Black History Month series, Reentry: The Next Civil Rights Movement. Tune into our episodes this entire month to learn more about the Black community and their experiences post incarceration. This month we will be highlighting reentry experiences of the Black community, celebrating Blacks who have made positive changes post incarceration, and discussing ways to support the Black community during their reentry process.
As we wrap up our Black History Month series, Dr. Michael Mitchell joins VanKe’via for a discussion on the motherhood experiences of Black women as they transition from incarceration to community. Dr. Michael B. Mitchell is an Assistant Professor of African American Studies and Criminology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where he teaches courses on race, crime, and justice, policing, social justice, and the school-to-prison pipeline, to name a few. He identifies as a critical criminologist who challenges students and the public alike to see and understand the racist, classist, and sexist underpinnings of the American criminal legal system.
