In honor of Black History Month, Podpops is highlighting influential Black voices for the first week of February.

Barack Obama was born to a white mother and a Kenyan father at a time when interracial marriage was still illegal in many states. He would go on to become the 44th president of the United States and the country’s first Black man to hold that office.
