As a platform that celebrates culture, creativity and different forms of expressions geared towards a global scale audience, we have the responsibility to share our knowledge to our community and our followers -- from a first point of view -- regarding civil rights for the Black community, a movement that continues to this day.
The U.S. was founded on discrimination, racism, social inequality; a social hierarchy that was created to further the gap of distribution of power between classes, thus leading a continuous and vicious cycle to justify the marginalization of BIPOC. Therefore, El Nopalito Media will continue paying it forward by donating, learning and by spotlighting Black artists to show our support; 50% of our upcoming t-shirt sales will be donated to a Black Lives Matter organization (TBD).
We first created this platform to bring together the Latinx community and to shine a light on the artistic subcultures that never receive the recognition they deserve. As things change we strive to become more inclusive with the music we choose. We are a small collective of music lovers, but that should not keep us from helping to create the change that is deeply needed. We hope that our platform influences you in a way that inspires you to help create change within yourself and your community by supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. We hope one day to live in a world where we are not divided by class and race. We hope you enjoy this podcast we curated in line with our signature style.
