On today's episode of the Only in OK Show, we are taking you to highest spot in the state, Black Mesa State Park in Kenton, Oklahoma.   Black Mesa State Park and Nature Reserve is located in the Oklahoma Panhandle, close to the border of both Colorado and New Mexico. The Mesa was formed 30 million years ago by volcanic rock.  The park offers a unique wilderness experience, exceptional views of the night skies and gorgeous vistas.   Kenton is the westernmost town in Oklahoma and has a population of 17. The town originally was technically in New Mexico.  A nephew of P.T. Barnum by the name of Fairchild B. Drew became postmaster of the place, he moved the post office a bit to the east and changed the name to Kenton in 1893.   Lake Carl Etling is located within Black Mesa State Park and normally offers 159 surface acres and 5 miles of shoreline. Trout season is November thru April.  The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, flathead catfish, walleye, and smallmouth bass.   Kenton Museum was built from native rock in 1902 as a home for Dr. Lane, a pioneering female doctor, and is now the oldest remaining building in the town.
